For contractors, fabricators & entrepreneurs
Spray shipping container pools. Build a business that lasts.
Container pools are one of the hottest categories in backyard pools — and every one needs its steel sealed with a seamless, rust-proof waterproof membrane. ArmorThane equips, trains and supports the applicators who spray them with polyurea.
- Spray coatings since 1989
- Hands-on training
- Financing options
The opportunity
Every container pool has the same three problems.
A steel box was built to carry cargo, not to hold chlorinated water. Solving these is exactly what a polyurea applicator does.
The steel problem
Water, chlorine and salt attack bare steel. Every pinhole, weld and cut edge is a place corrosion can start.
Polyurea encapsulates the steel in one continuous, bonded membrane.
The seam problem
Liners have seams and attachment points, and water that gets behind them sits against the steel where no one can see it.
Spray-applied means no seams, no laps, nothing for water to get behind.
The speed problem
Fabricators want units out the door. Coatings that take days to cure become the bottleneck in the shop.
Polyurea gels in seconds, so coated units move on fast.
What you’d sell
One rig. A full menu of services.
Container pools open the door. The same plural-component spray rig keeps working on dozens of other polyurea jobs.
Why polyurea
Built for steel. Built for water. Built for speed.
Seamless
One continuous membrane across floors, walls, welds and cut-outs.
Bonded
Sprayed onto properly blasted steel, it bonds to the surface instead of hanging in front of it.
Flexible
High-elongation polyurea moves with steel through heat, cold and handling.
Fast
Gels in seconds. Spray, inspect and move the unit along the same day.
System-based
Paired with the right primer and topcoat for UV and the pool’s water chemistry.
Proven across industries
Trusted on tanks, containment, roofs, bridges and truck beds worldwide.

Run the numbers
Job size & revenue estimator
Pick a container size and scope to see the coated area. Add your own local pricing to see what a month of work looks like.
Don’t know your local pricing yet? That’s one of the first things an ArmorThane advisor will help you build.
Areas are approximate flat-surface figures for standard containers (corrugation adds roughly 10–15%). This is a planning tool using your own inputs — not a quote, a projection or a promise of earnings. Results depend on your market, pricing, costs and effort.

Want to read more first?
Do I need coating experience to get started?
No. Many successful applicators start with no spray experience. Hands-on training, practice and technical support are what get you to professional results — and safety training is mandatory.
What equipment does it take?
A heated plural-component proportioner, heated hoses, a spray gun, transfer pumps, air supply, supplied-air respiratory protection and PPE, plus surface prep equipment such as abrasive blasting gear. ArmorThane offers complete packages and can walk you through options for your budget.
How long does it take to coat a container pool?
Spraying is fast — polyurea gels in seconds. Most of the time goes into surface preparation and masking. Your advisor can walk you through a realistic production schedule.
Is polyurea suitable for the inside of a pool?
Polyurea is used as a seamless waterproof membrane on container pools, tanks and water features. Interior systems are specified with a compatible topcoat for UV exposure and water chemistry, and ArmorThane’s technical team helps you spec the right system for each job.
What else can I do with the same rig?
A lot: truck bedliners, roofing, secondary containment, floors, tanks, marine and industrial protection. Many applicators combine several markets to keep the rig busy year-round.
Is financing available?
ArmorThane works with equipment finance partners. Ask your advisor about options when you get in touch.
Where are you located?
ArmorThane is headquartered in Springfield, Missouri, and works with applicators across the U.S. and internationally.
